Electric boating: quieter, cleaner and fully tailored

For many boaters, the choice of propulsion has become a practical consideration. Electric systems now offer a fully fledged alternative to the traditional diesel engine, including for the sloops and tenders in the Waterspoor range, where longer trips and a higher level of comfort take centre stage.

What electric boating changes about the experience

The most immediate difference is the quiet. Without the noise and vibrations of a diesel engine, the atmosphere on board changes completely. Conversations flow more easily, you hear the birds again, and in short the experience on the water becomes calmer. That fits well with the way Waterspoor owners usually sail: relaxed, in company, for longer, comfortable moments on the water.
Electric boating is also low-maintenance. There are fewer moving parts, no oil or fuel filters and no cooling system required. And with stricter environmental regulations on the horizon for more and more cruising areas, emission-free boating is also practical and future-proof.

Fully electric or hybrid

Within the Waterspoor range, both fully electric and hybrid propulsion are available for several models.
If you want to go fully electric, the desired time on the water and cruising area determine which configuration suits best. Short day trips on inland waters are perfectly achievable. For longer routes, the installation is put together in consultation.
For those who also want to reach larger cruising areas, a hybrid drive offers more range. At Waterspoor, you can cruise at cruising speed on electric power, while the inboard diesel engine remains available whenever you need it.

Available electric within the 700 and 800 series

Electric and hybrid propulsion is available for the Waterspoor 707, the Waterspoor 711 Open, the Waterspoor 717 Aviator, the Waterspoor 777 Aviator and the Waterspoor 808 Open.
The familiar wide, stable hulls of the Waterspoor sloops and tenders are well suited to the smooth power delivery of electric systems. All the other comfortable features on board, the generous cockpit layout, the spacious seating and the sun pad, remain fully intact.

Discover which option suits you

Which propulsion best suits your use is best discussed in person. On the comparison page and the model detail pages, you can see directly which sloops and tenders are available with electric or hybrid propulsion. A Waterspoor specialist will be glad to talk you through the possibilities.
